Willcom has managed to remain under the radar for most Japanese people, let alone the rest of the world. And it looks like they want to stay that way. Today, Kyocera has introduced two handsets for the service: the "AH-K3002V" with "business-like" features, and the "AP-K202S" for safety.

Willcom will release a Kyocera-made AIR-EDGE PHONE handset, the "AH-K3002V," with security features, on September 1st. It is Open Price.

The "AH-K3002V" is a handset from Kyocera that features the "Opera" browser for viewing of websites intended for PCs. It is different from the previous AH-K3001V, in that it does not feature a camera; it instead had increased security for use in the business scene.

A new function introduced with this handset is called "Remote Lock," where users will be able to remotely lock their mobile phone in the event that they lose it. However, this particular feature will not be made public until an updated firmware is released in December.

Other specifications are the same as the AH-K3001V. It features a 1x packet transfer system, and supports flex-change, as well as 64kbps and 32kbps circuit exchange.

The continuous talk time is about 4 hours, and the continuous idle time about 400 hours. It measures 49 x 98 x 20.8mm, and weighs roughly 96g (including the battery). The only body color will be silver.

Kyocera will also be introducing a blue model of the "AP-K202S," a Safe Phone, intended to be used with Willcom's service. It is also listed as Open Price.

"Safe Phone" is a service where for a monthly cost of 1,029 yen, users are able to call only three particular locations they specify when registering. While the previous model was only available in silver, the company is introducing this blue model in hopes that they can round up the elementary school market.

The handset features a buzzer that will alert others in the area of potential wrongdoing, and features three individual buttons for calling the three numbers specified by the user (see above paragraph). It can also use mail.

it has a continuous talk time of 8 hours, and a continous idle time of 700 hours. It measures 47 x 121 x 19.5mm, and weighs about 89.3g.
