Portable AV: Evergreen, first portable mp3PRO player

Evergreen continues with the onslaught of products this week, this time bringing out what I believe is a first: a portable player to support mp3PRO.
Of course I've never actually heard of/seen mp3PRO being used anywhere, so let me know how useful such a feature really is.
Evergreen Corporation will release three models of the "EG-MSD" MP3/WMA player with an SD card slot on July 29th. They are Open Price. While they will be releasing the products in stores, the price of the 1GB "EG-MSD310W" is 17,980 yen on their "Shanghai Donya" online store. Furthermore, the 512MB "EG-MSD305K" is 12,980 yen, and the 256MB "EG-MSD302L" is 9,980 yen.
This MP3/WMA player contains internal memory, but also offers an SD card slot. The 1GB model is white, the 512MB black, and the 256MB model blue. Supported operating systems are Windows Me, 2000, and XP.
Playable files include MP3, mp3PRO, WMA, and WAV. For mp3 files, those from 32 to 320kbps are supported; for mp3PRO, from 24kbps to 96kbps, and for WMA, 48 to 355kbps. A special feature of the player is its constant-play ability; the song being played can be switched from either one in the internal memory or one in the SD card without any interruption in playback.
The frequency response is from 20Hz to 20kHz, and the Signal to Noise ratio over 90dB. It features a 6 mode equalizer, where those modes are Normal, Classic, Pop, Rock, Jazz, and Bass. The LCD display can display Japanese and ID3 tags.
The interface is USB 1.1, and the Mass Storage class is supported. The SD memory card can also be backed up onto the internal storage, and the unit can be used as a USB 1.1 card reader.
The unit also features an FM tuner, microphone, and it can record from both of these. The recording is ADPCM WAV.
It is powered by a AAA battery, and Evergreen recommends alkalines. They do not recommend manganese or oxilide. The playback time is about 12 hours. The dimensions are 40 x 77 x 19mm (W x D x T), and the weight about 36g.
