Some time ago, we reported on Yamaha's MyRoom. This room, while nice, probably would not match decor common in many Japanese households. Justsystem has announced they will be selling the Asian and Japanese models of "Simple DIY In-Room Room," a product created by Morimasa of Tokushima Prefecture.

Justsystem announced on the 26th that they will begin sales of the "Simple DIY In-Room Room," which is developed and manufactured by "Morimasa," a Buddhist altar maker out of Tokushima Prefecture. The price is 292,530 yen.

The product is a kit that allows users to construct an "in-room room" without requiring any sort of addition or annexes to a building. The kit uses 1 tatami + 1 tokonoma (Translator's note: A "tokonoma" is an alcove common in Japanese-style rooms that serves a variety of purposes) of space, and when complete, takes up about 2400 x 1100 x 1920mm (W x D x H) (a tokonoma measures 940 x 450mm). This may be about the same size as a small storage room, but "if there's two people putting it together, it will take about 40 minutes" (Justsystem).

Two types will be released: the "Asian Type" that uses coconut palm on the floor, and "Japanese Type" that features a cut and dry white/black atmosphere. These two types will also be available with or without sliding doors. Tokushima has been known since the Edo period (years 1603 - 1868) for its cedar, and this product uses seasoned cedar lumber as its primary material.

The company will also simultaneously release PC racks and desks to match the "Asian Type" and "Japanese Type." The PC rack is made of pure cherry tree/quince wood, and measures about 440 x 980 x 880 (D x H x W). Two desks will be available, one with a combination of cedar and violet sandlewood, the other with white ash and quince. The price of the PC rack is 60,270 yen, the cedar desk 20,580 yen, and the quince desk 29,400 yen.

That thing sitting on the floor of the Japanese Type looks like a koto, though I could be wrong.
