Adtec will be releasing some new USB memory devices with interchangeable covers. Yay!

Adtec Corporation will release the "AD-UMX" series of USB 2.0 flash memory devices beginning in late July. Supported operating systems are Windows 98 SE, Me, 2000, and XP, as well as Mac OS 9.0.4 ~ 9.2, and Mac OS 10.1 and above.

All are Open Price. Five capacities will be available: 128MB, 256MB, 512MB, 1GB, and 2GB. Their respective estimated prices are 2,600 yen, 3,800 yen, 6,980 yen, 12,800 yen, and 21,800 yen.

Points of interest on the AD-UMX series are its leather cap, and plate that can have various stickers pasted on it. Available motifs are "Flower," "Bamboo," and "Raindrop." Since the seals require no tape, they can be used over and over again.

While no software is included, "PC Lock" which allows USB memory to act as a locking device, "Secret Zip" file encryption and compression software, and "USB Disk Pro" that supports password locking can all be downloaded from the company's website.

The read speed of the 128MB model is 10MB/sec, and for models 256MB and above, 17MB/sec. The write speed of the 128MB model is 8MB/sec, and for all others, 14MB/sec. The size is 69.9 x 11 x 16.5 (W x D x H), and it weighs about 12.5g.
