BrightonNet is offering an FM modulator kit for iPods and iPod minis. Note that an "FM modulator" is a bit different from an "FM transmitter," and of course we'll explain this difference inside.
BrightonNet announced on the 19th that they will release the "iPod Stereo Modular," an FM modulator for use with the iPod, on July 22nd. Its price is 12,800 yen.
An FM modulator converts the headphone output signal from a device and converts it to an FM signal, and is then connected to the car stereo's antenna port. This means that it is a wired system, as opposed to a wireless one. When compared to using an FM transmitter that uses FM waves, having a wired signal drastically reduces noise, and allows for uninterrupted playback.
This product consists of the FM modulator itself and connection cables, where the modulator features a switch to easily change between FM radio and iPod audio modes. The frequencies that can be used are 87.7, 87.9, 88.1, 88.3, 88.5, 88.7, and 88.9 MHz.
The modulator measures 42 x 120 x 30mm (H x W x D). It supports all iPods, iPod minis, and iPod photos with a dock connector.
