Two new handsets from two popular names. Fujitsu introduces the F700iS, an improvement to the F700i, and Sharp the SH700iS, an improvement to their SH700i. Pretty straightforward, eh?

NTT DoCoMo introduced two new FOMA handsets today, and will release them on July 21st.

-F700iS

The Fujitsu "F700iS," which supports Plus Area, will be released on July 21st. Three body colors will be available: Ice Blue, Platinum Quartz, and Rose Pink.

The main feature is support for "FOMA Area Plus," which takes advantage of the 800MHz band, increasing service area in mountainous regions. Otherwise, the primary specs and design remain largely the same as on the F700i.

The camera is a 1.28MP CMOS type, and included software allows music files to be easily loaded onto a miniSD card for playback on the handset. Also available is a "One Touch Alarm" that will play an 80dB alarm if a button on the side of the handset is pushed for an extended period of time.

Fujitsu's F700iS will be on display at "Wireless Japan 2005," set to be held from the 13th at Tokyo's Big Sight, in the DoCoMo booth.

-SH700iS

DoCoMo also announced the development of the FOMA "SH700iS." It features a 2.2 inch "CG Silicon LCD," which when compared to the previous SH700i, has 40% more brightness. It likewise supports the "FOMA Plus Area" through the 800MHz band, helping out with reception in mountainous areas.

Hardware-wise, the unit features a "10 degree Slant Camera," where the camera is tilted 10 degrees against the axis of the bottom of the handset, and a "Movie-only Button" allowing for one-button recording of movies. This single button allows for recording, stopping and saving of movies.

Also available is the "Speedy Lab Movie" allowing for decoration while watching recorded movies through telop and after-recording, as well as the ability to playback multiple movies stored on a miniSD card in succession. The handset can playback audio files up to 500KB in size from the memory card, and it also features "Chaku Uta," "Chaku Motion," and "TV Phone" functions.

This handset will also be on display at Wireless Japan 2005, from the 13th.
