AudioTechnica will be releasing the "ATH-RE3" headphones in July, with "that retro feel." If you're 30+, the design of these may ring a bell.

AudioTechnica Corporation will release the "ATH-RE3" portable headphones with a retro design o­n July 22nd. White (WH) and black (BK) colors will be available, for 3,150 yen.

The most notable aspect of these is their design. With "Retro Future" being the keyword(s), AudioTechnica has said they were "aiming for a design that felt new but still had some old parts," and "these headphones will give those over 30, that 'aww man, I remember these!' feeling, and for those in their teens and 20s, a new feeling."

Orange and black earpads are included, and the orange coloring is impressive in that it reminds you of the first-run Walkman products. AudioTechnica has said, "when you decide o­n pop, use the orange, and when you decide o­n chic, use the black." The earphone cable runs to both earphones, and the connector portion features red and blue pieces.

A 24mm diameter neosium magnet is used as a drive. It has a maximum output level of 101dB/mW, with a maximum input of100mW. The frequency response is from 14Hz to 24kHz. It has a 32 ohm impedence, and a 23g weight. The earphone cable uses highly elastic elastomer materials, protecting against cable tangling. Its length is 1.2m.
